No Snickers bar?

What kind of vending machine doesn't have a snickers bar in it? All I wanted was a snickers bar. I was going to wash it down with a nice half pint of really cold skim milk.

Oh well...now, I'll just starve until lunch.

We've picked a name

Okay, well, we've picked two names really. Our little baby boy will be named one of two names. We're not going to share the names that we've picked, but I am going to share with you all how very happy and relieved I am that we've actually narrowed it down to two names.

For a while, I thought I'd have a son with the moniker "baby boy." Can you imagine a football anouncer saying "That was Baby Boy for the tackle!" It just doesn't sound right.

And no...we are not going to force the kid to play football. We just feel that with his father's past involvement in football, and the fact that his mommy was an athlete as well, there may be a good chance that he decides to go out for football some day.

If he's short like me, maybe he'll be a running back, but if he's built like his father, maybe he'll be a linesman.

In other baby news, a date has been set for the baby shower, my best friend and mom are throwing me a shower on Oct. 14th, which happens to be my oldest nephew's birthday.

So my mom, my sister-in-law and my two nephews will be spending that weekend with us.

And in other news:

  • This weekend, my mom and dad are coming to visit....We're going out to eat at Red Lobster, and Mom and I will go shopping, and Dad and Josh will visit the new two story-with a ferris wheel inside-sporting goods store that we have here in town.
  • Mom and Dad just celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary
  • My older brother and his wife just celebrated their 7th anniversary
  • Josh will be handing in his thesis for final review today, and then in about two weeks, he'll defend it. I am so excited for him to be done with school!!!
  • In one more week, I get to update my blog background with Halloween decorations!

Do I look like Holly Hunter?

According to MyHeritage.com, I do.

I uploaded a photo to the software, after I had to register for free of course, and then it scanned my face, and then it told me that the celebrity that I looked like most was Holly Hunter.

Do you see a resemblance?

Steal a cat...Get a reward?

For a while now, Josh and I have been sharing Wilbur with our neighbor lady. She's fallen in love with Wilbur, and starting Oct. 14th, she'll keep Wilbur at her house for the entire winter.

On Monday, Josh and I noticed that we hadn't seen Wilbur in a while, so we called our neighbor lady to ask if she had him at her place. She said she had let him outside over the weekend and hadn't seen him since. When there wasn't a Wilbur sighting in a few days, we became worried.

My neighbor lady placed an ad in the Lost & Found section of our local newspaper. On Thursday, she and her boyfriend put together some flyers with pictures of Wilbur that I had e-mailed her.

She got a call on Friday from a lady saying she had our cat. She did in fact have Wilbur. It turns out that this woman "rescues" cats all the time. She has 10 cats at her house, and when her son, who was walking home at 3 am Sunday morning, encountered Wilbur on the street, he felt that Wilbur needed to be "Rescued." Even though Wilbur had a colar and tags, this kid felt that he needed to take this cat home to his mom.

So to make a long story shorter, the lady dropped Wilbur off at my neighbor lady's house on Friday night, and my neighbor lady gave her a $15 reward.

So, if you would like to make extra cash, pick up a cat from the street, and wait for some one to put an ad in the paper that matches the description of the cat you picked up, and then drop the cat off, and get your money.

10 weeks left

At the request of relatives, here's another belly picture of me. Enjoy

TV will rot your brain

After not having cable for over 6 months, I am completely appalled at how the majority of television programming has no substance, yet it is still easy to sit down, with remote in hand, and be completely sucked in. Here are somethings that I've observed
  • Some commercials are funny and entertaining in an artistic way, some are plain awful.
  • Some programs are brand new, but most are re-runs.
  • Some of the news that is aired is BREAKING NEWS!!! but most of it is repeated over and over and over until you become so desensitised that you just don't care anymore.
  • None of the reality shows are really reality.
  • There are too many football games going on at the same time and not enough gymnastics, diving, figure skating, or women's softball on TV.
  • A lot of these so-called-cartoons are no longer really aimed at children. Some of the comments and witty remarks are too adult-ish for me to ignore.
  • In order to be a TV personality, you have to be funny, ditsy, annoying, have no incredible flaws in your appearance, or you just need to have your own catch phrase.

A productive weekend

What a wonderful, and fast, weekend I just had. On Friday night, Josh and I put a crib together, and later I accomplished a whole lot on my T-Shirt quilt, with the help of my dear friend Chelsea of course. Josh and I woke up early enough on Saturday to rearrange the whole house. I'm serious. We pretty much rearranged 3 of the rooms in our house.

You see, everything became offset a bit when we put the crib in our bedroom. Well anyway, we rearranged and cleaned the house in time for our Sunday lunch, which went very well.

I found lasagna recipe online that seemed promising, and, in fact, turned out delicious. Now I have a lasagna recipe that I can use for years to come! Yay!

After we all ate lunch, the boys watched their football, and us women played Sequence. After everyone left, Josh and I took a Sunday afternoon nap that seemed to make us more tired. All in all...it was a great weekend.

Listed below is the recipe that I found online:

INGREDIENTS:
· 1 pound bulk Italian sausage (remove casings) ( I hated this part but the sausage tasted great in the recipe)
· 1 clove garlic, minced
· 1 can (14.5 ounces) tomatoes (I used a larger can of crushed tomatoes)
· 2 teaspoons dried basil
· 1 teaspoon dried oregano
· 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
· 2 cans tomato paste (6 ounces each)
· 10 ounces lasagne noodles (10 to 12 lasagna noodles)
· 3 cups ricotta cheese
· 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
· 2 tablespoons dried parsley flakes
· 2 eggs
· 1 teaspoons salt
· 1/2 teaspoon pepper
· 16 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded or thinly sliced
PREPARATION:
Brown sausage slowly; drain off excess fat. Add garlic, tomatoes, basil, oregano, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, and tomato paste. Simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes, adding a little water if too thick. Cook lasagna noodles in boiling salted water according to package directions. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, parsley, eggs, 1 teaspoon salt, and pepper.

Place a layer of noodles in bottom of a 13x9x2-inch baking dish or lasagna pan. Cover with a layer of mozzarella cheese then spoon 1/2 of ricotta mixture over mozzarella. Spoon 1/2 meat sauce over the cheese. Repeat layers. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes in a 375° oven.
Allow lasagna recipe to set a few minutes before serving.

Looking forward to the weekend

I apologize for the lack of interesting topics to blog about, but really, my life hasn't been that interesting in the past week or so.

Here's what's coming up for me though:

Tomorrow:

  • It's Friday and that means the last work day of the week. Yay!
  • And my sister-in-law will find out the gender of her baby tomorrow.
  • I'm also getting together with a friend tomorrow night to work on my t-shirt quilt that I'm making.

Saturday:

  • My mom and dad are coming to visit. Josh and I are both very excited!

Sunday:

  • Lasagna at my house! Family comes over for our typical Sunday lunch after church to watch the Vikings game. This week it's my turn to cook.

And just because I know how much fun it is to see a picture along with a blog....Here you go!

This is my attempt at mixing my face with Josh's face to find out what our kid might look like. I think it is rather hilarious! I love playing around with photoshop!

28 weeks along and I have a weird cat

Here's a pic of my belly at 28 weeks.

And here's a pic of my crazy cat, Wilbur, hanging out on the sidewalk. As I was driving home from work today, I noticed that he was just laying on the very corner of the sidewalk. I ran inside quick to get my camera so I could share this moment with you all.

Fall is Here!

You'll never guess what happened to me this morning!....I woke up around 7:30 am because Winnie need to go outside, and as I stepped outside to enjoy the crisp cool temperatures of the morning, I SAW MY BREATH!!!!

You know what that means, don't you?

FALL IS HERE, FALL IS HERE, YAY YAY YAY, FALL IS HERE!!!

My new blog background was inspired by that moment this morning. I've also decided to share some of my favorite fall pics from a trip Josh and I took to Maplewood State Park in 2003. Enjoy!
