Share a Story

PBS  sponsored a “Share a Story” event here in town on Saturday and Raleigh got to meet two characters from one of the PBS Kids shows that he really likes.

Super Why is the guy in the cape and Princess Presto is the girl in the pink dress.

Leah got to chill in her stroller while Raleigh met the two characters. I had better pictures of Leah (not so close up) but this is the one she was smiling in.

I took the opportunity to get some pictures of Me and Josh holding Raleigh.

MSUM, a local university had their barrel train available for kids to ride in…So, obviously, Raleigh had to have a train ride.

IMG_9041  IMG_9055 Raleigh got to keep a polaroid of him, his Dad, Princess Presto and Super Why. When I asked him to pose with his picture, this is what he did.

IMG_9067 Then I asked him to turn it around so I could see it, and this is what he did. I don’t think he understood that I wanted to see his face too :)

Cute as a baby’s bottom

Leah loves naked time and it helps air out her bum, preventing diaper rash. I tried to get her to look at me, but she was only interested in her own reflection in her crib toy.

IMG_9006

Leah’s cute little hands. She does this a lot now…holding her hands. Raleigh does it too when we want him to hold our hands when we are walking in a parking lot. We’ll say. “Ok, hold our hands as we walk to the store.” And Raleigh will clasp his little hands together and say, “No, I hold my own hands.”

IMG_9016

Raleigh is doing some other mature things lately…he’s eating a big boy sandwich all by himself.

Quilt time

Leah and I spent some time playing on her quilt this morning. I just finished the binding on it last night while Josh was playing at a gig and I was watching the first disc of Friends: Season 1.

This picture above reminds me of when my neighbor lady, who is older but had strawberry red hair before it was grey, said that Leah will “be just like me having to draw on her eyebrows”.

I’m trying not to imagine it. I’d like to think of my little eyebrow-less little girl as she is now…all smiley and giggley and sweet.

My kids are going to grow up in a different world

How amazing!

Leah Rolled Over!

One minute she was like this...

and the next minute she was like this...

That was yesterday, we got video of it today.

New Carpet…Finally!

I can’t believe it has taken us this long to cover up our splinter-ridden floors with comfy soft and warm carpet. The carpet installers came on Friday afternoon and were in and out in less than an hour and a half. Nice.

Here is a before picture, where we moved almost everything out of the living room.

IMG_8900

Here’s a picture of Raleigh reaching for the yellow goop toy thingy that he just flung at the mirror. He was patiently waiting for the goop to fall down. In his defense, we taught him to hold the goop near his nose and go “Ah…Ah…Ah…choooo!” and then fling the goop at the wall. I know, we’re horrible parents. I’ll try to catch it on video as it is quite funny. :)

Here is a picture of our newly installed carpet. Notice the beautiful baby girl lounging in the middle of it? Boy is it convenient now to just be able to lay her onto the carpet with a blanket under her instead of finding the bouncy chair that Raleigh tipped over and moved all around the house.

IMG_8909

And here’s a picture of where our tile and carpet meet up. I’m pretty happy with how well our tile matched our carpet.

New Toys

Leah is starting to really enjoy toys now. She has this little toy that has crinkle fabric in it and little plastic rings for her hand to gram and she just reaches out for it whenever she see it.

Below: Leah received this floor mat toy from her Great Aunt Soni and Great Grandma Sarah the weekend of her baptism. She loves looking at herself in the mirror.

My Mother’s Day: Outside

For Mother’s day, Josh was playing music in church all day, but Raleigh, Leah, my MIL Deb, and I stayed home.  I got some quality time outside with Raleigh.

Red River Zoo

Last week, we visited the Red River Zoo over my lunch hour. Raleigh was, again, smitten by the fishes. They have clown fish and blue fish, so Raleigh kept saying “Hi Nemo, Hi Dori”.

IMG_8612

Josh carried the little one in the Baby Bjorn carrier. She looks so tiny when he carries her.

IMG_8610

The lady that ran the carousel gave Raleigh some popcorn to feed the peacocks. Somehow, I don’t think that buttered popcorn can be all that good for those little creatures. They sure loved it though.

We’ll have more zoo pictures after tomorrow night when we go again.

2009 Fargo Marathon

So, we did it. We being, my hubby, his older brother, and my sister-in-law.  We ran the 4 person Fargo Marathon relay event last Saturday.

I ran the first leg of the journey. Here is a fabulous pic of me after my run.

IMG_8648

Here is a cute pic of Erika and Joel before the marathon started.

IMG_8639

Below is a pic of Joel finishing his run and Josh on his way to intercept the anklet-chip-thingy. Hey, do you know the proper term? I don’t.

So, at this point, Joel has some mongo blisters on both feet. He would proceed to walk on the outside of his feed the rest of the day

IMG_8652

Below is a pic of Josh finishing his run. At this point, Josh was wheezing a lot. He came down with a cold the Friday before the marathon.

IMG_8657

And this is a picture of Erika, in the green top, crossing the finish line after her leg of the journey.

IMG_8673

And here’s the best pic. All four of us, happy to have completed our marathon relay.
