Raleigh video 3

I'll admit, this isn't my best video so far. However, it contains a bunch of fun clips of Raleigh making noise.

Enjoy!

Big Boy!

Raleigh is 14 lbs. 9 oz. now, which is below average, but according to the doctor, that is because he is a breastfed baby. She said he is a very healthy baby.

The nurse who weighed and measured Raleigh turned out to be the mother of one of Josh's highschool football teammates. Isn't it a small world?

He was also vaccinated with a bunch of vaccines so that he can remain a healthy and happy baby. We're lucky that he hasn't had any bad reactions to the vaccines. Both of my nephews had serious reactions to vaccinations. Raleigh cried so much with each shot...I wanted to cry too.

Some times he sleeps...some times he doesn't

Raleigh slept the whole night through last night!! I love that when it happens. The past two nights, it seemed like he awoke every 2 hours. I felt like I was running on empty this past weekend. So you can imagine my happiness when I woke up at 5 am this morning after having slept since 11 pm with no interruptions.

My mother-in-law is in town to visit and she has been a great help with Raleigh. She just wants to hold him as much as she can. It's a nice rest for Josh and I.

Yesterday, I changed the oil in our car (Josh showed me how), and I raked out and weeded the flower bed at the front of the house, while Josh cleaned out our car and cleaned off the deck. We're planning to put one of those plastic turtle sandboxes with a cover on our deck for Raleigh. I can't wait to get pictures of him playing in the sand.

Raleigh is teething right now; his fingers, and anything he can get ahold of, are constantly in his mouth and he drools more now. A while back, my parents purchased a vibrating teether for him and it's been working so far. His gums are white where his top front teeth are going to come out. It's hard to get a peek at his gums though, because he wants to chew on anything that get's near his mouth, including your fingers.

I love how things are always changing.

A nice walk in non-negative temps...how nice!

Welcome Spring!! We are happy that you are here. We are so happy that you are planning to bring us temperatures in the 50s this weekend and we celebrated tonight by taking a red-cheeked walk outside. Josh, Winnie, Raleigh and I zig-zagged down our neighborhood streets at a brisk pace until it was dark.

Josh and I agreed that we should take the time to go for a walk every night...weather permitting.

Kansas

This week is Kansas' week, apparently.

We had visitors from Kansas. My brother Corey returned to work in Kansas. And, I guess, before his flight flew out of Bemidji, he decided to open up a bank account and the bank associate turned out to be his boss' daughter and they were originally from Kansas.

What a small world.

Here are some more pics to enjoy. I'll post another video sometime soon.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

So I had this wonderful blog written; it took me about a half hour. And when I went to post it, Blogger threw an error and said "Thou shalt not post" - my words, not Blogger's.

So here I am. Again. Loading up my pictures and writing a blog for the second time today.

The first blog that I wrote today was sentimental and lovey dovey about how I am so happy to be a mother. It's hard to recreate that sentiment when I am so mad at blogger right now for erasing my beautiful blog. Yes, I lost all that wonderful text that I had written this morning.

I was so darn mad that I left the room and was determined not to write a post until tomorrow. However, then I remembered telling my father on the phone this morning that I was going to update my blog today. He said he'd tell mom for me. And I wouldn't want mom to connect to the internet...she's on dial-up...just to find out that I hadn't, in fact, updated my blog.

So, Mom, here are some pictures for you to enjoy after work!

Ahhhh! Wasabi!

If you've never tried this spectacular root, you really must make a point of it. Forget that your eyes will water upon consumption...forget that look of shock that comes across your face when this Japanese horseradish touches your tongue and its vapors irritate your sinuses...you simply must experience the consumption of this unique root.

It might remind you of the first time you stuck your tongue to a 9 volt battery. You didn't know what to expect...and then when you did it, it wasn't a good experience...but, when it was over, part of you wanted to do it again.

The Wasabi experience came courtesy of Yuki Hana, a sushi restaurant in our city.

I was a chicken and ordered a dish that consisted of chicken in a Korean spicy sauce with vegetables, but two of my sister-in-laws ordered sushi which came with ground Wasabi root as a garnish.

We convinced my sister-in-law, Erika, to try the Wasabi...she did not like the experience as much as I did. The burst of hotness seemed to last a bit longer for her than it did for me and she eventually reached for her beverage to soothe her palate. I do wish we had brought a camera though. I would have had some pictures of really funny faces to add to this blog.

Finally! A Happy Laughing Snapshot

I finally caught one of my favorite expressions on Raleigh's face (See the smiling pictures below). It is such a great moment, when after a night of no sleep, Raleigh giggles and smiles up at me when I am feeding him. The frustration that I felt from lack of sleep just melts away, and I have the feeling of unconditional love aimed directly at him.

The wonder of becoming a mother was such a cliche to me until I had Raleigh. I understand what all of the women in my life were talking about now.

Enjoy the pictures, I hope you melt!

Oh the Weather Outside is Frightful!

We recently been hit by a big snow storm. It's not too bad though. I have to admit that I do appreciate looking out my window and finally feeling like it is winter. I grew up with so many wonderful, snow-filled winters and I do miss them. I didn't take any pictures of the snow just yet, however, I did take some pictures of some icecicles hanging from my soffit. And of course, I also took some more pictures of Raleigh. Enjoy!

Finally! No Longer Considered a Spam Blog...and my blog roll

Q: Why haven't I blogged in the past week?

A: Blogger and its "spam robot" came to the conclusion that my blog was a "spam blog." I received a message saying that I could not post any more blogs until I verified the letters that were displayed on the screen. Once I entered in the correct letters, it told me that a human, who works at Blogger, would personally review my blog to verify that it was, in fact, not a spam blog.

So, finally, the human at blogger overruled the spam robot's decision to disable my blog and I am up and running again.

I do have pictures to post, but instead, I'm going to take this moment to display my blog roll. The blog links that appear in the following paragraphs are blogs that I visit almost daily and thought that I might share them with you.

http://www.rfriedr.blogspot.com/ A friend of mine, who I met through my sister-in-law, started keeping a blog and she is posting pictures of her growing belly like I did. So, so if you miss seeing a pregnant woman get bigger every month, stop on by her blog every now and then.

http://www.chelsea-odden.blogspot.com/ Another friend of mine-Chelsea, who I am starting to do yoga with every week, created these amazing felt vessels and other artwork which she posted pictures of on her blog. Chelsea is an amazing artist and also an amazing quilter...just an overall amazing artist.

www.sweetmarysunshine.blogspot.com And another friend of mine, who has twin baby girls and who I'm long overdue for a visit with, also keeps up a blog. She writes about anything that she fancies writing about. Some times it is about her daughters, some times her husband, and other times she writes about her "interesting" inlaws. She is, in fact, the reason that I started blogging.

http://www.smittenkitchen.com This blogger, who's name is Deb, is not someone who I know personally, but she has a great blog. Her paragraphs get kind of long to read, but she has a great way with words and seems to be a great cook.

To be Continued...
