PeePee on the Potty

The other day, I brought Raleigh into his room, and said where's your potty?

He did this.

I said, "Can you sit on the potty?"...and he did this.

I said, "That's close"... and then he did this.

I then said "Wow, you're standing in the potty...Can you sit on the potty?"... and he did this. Sidenote: he hasn't actually used the potty yet, so him standing in it shouldn't gross you out.

Then I said, "Oh, you are so close to sitting on the potty."... and then he did this.

And we sang the "Peepee on the Potty" song. And then he grabbed a nearby bear and did this.

I miss my boy. Today is the second day that I've not seen him. I have 10 more days to go. Yikes! Hopefully, his Dad will take some pictures and post them soon. I'm going through Raleigh-withdrawals.

Redmond, WA, is a beautiful place. It is very hilly and very green. The first day here, it was sunny, and nice. Yesterday it was overcast and a bit drizzly. Today should be the same. Everyone at work is awesome.

The car that we rented is a 2007 Dodge Caliber. It's a neat looking car on the outside, but very industrial feeling on the inside.

One of these nights, I'm going to go to Seattle's famous Fish Market and take pictures.

Raleigh's Toys

Just Raleigh

Playing with toys

Yes, those are plastic dolls in his hands

But at least he's stomping on another toy in a masculine way.

And then, he puts down said plastic doll,

to pick up an Xbox controller.

P.s. I made it to Seattle just fine. Here's a pic of my bed in my hotel room.

Here's a pic of the balcony of my hotel room.

Cute Howie

Last weekend, Joel and Erika were out of town and my mother-in-law watched their pups. One night, she brought howie over.

Raleigh and Howie got along great! Howie even received one of Raleigh's famous kisses.

Sidenote: I'm flying into Seattle, WA, tomorrow for business, and I won't be back for two weeks. I'm going to miss my two men very very very much. But I'm excited to visit Washington.

Winter wonderland in March

This is what I woke up to this morning. YIKES! That's a bit too much snow for 6:30 am.

This is what I came home to this evening...Cute Raleigh wearing a spring coat, rain boots, and pajamas in the snow...and Josh making a mini snowman.

Ode to Barack

I have never admired a politician as much as I admire Barack Obama. I'm not going to tell you why I admire him, I am going to provide you with a location where you can hear what he is all about.

If you only ever listen to him speak once, this should be what you listen to.

http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/hisownwords

He is eloquent and sincere and some day, I will play this speech for my son.

Raleigh in the closet

Raleigh really likes to hang out in our closet. When we find that we've left the door to our room open, and Raleigh is nowhere to be seen, we look in the bedroom closet first...he is always there or on his way there.

Notice that he's holding his favorite blanket. I have a feeling that "Blanket" will make quite a few appearances on this blog.

Baked deliciousness

Two baked items made by me in less than a week? What is the deal? I'm not the baker...Erika is. Nevertheless, I have been in a baking mood lately. When we visited my parents, two weekends ago, I made this yummy 4 part brownie cheesecake...

050

It had homemade brownie chucks smothered in cheesecake filling, a Teddy-Graham cookie crust, and a homemade ganache glaze on top. YUMMY!

062

Then, last weekend, I decided to make just the brownies with the ganache drizzled on top. It was Deb's idea to cut the brownies in half to make a double-stacker with ganache glaze in the middle.

Disclaimer: I'm not sure if I spelled "ganache" correctly. I was too lazy to look it up. :)

Grandpa's visit: Part 1

So the main reason we traveled to my parents' place last weekend was to see my Grandfather Harry.  It's been almost 3 years since I've last seen him.

067

That's him. I snapped the picture when he wasn't really looking. Corey has a picture of him and Raleigh together, which we took on Monday just before we were leaving. I remembered that we hadn't taken a picture of the two of them yet, and then I remembered that my camera chip was full. So...hopefully, my mother posts the picture of the two of them on her blog.

Two words...fried fish

My big bro Dave cooked some Wonderfully Wicked Walleye last night(I like alliteration too, Erika).

Check out the pictures.

As, I'm sure you can assume, we're visiting my parents this weekend. My Grandpa Harry is also visiting. We haven't seen him since our wedding. And this is the first time that Raleigh's met him.

This is also the first time that Raleigh and Sam have been together since they've been walkers. We got some good pictures that I'll share in a later post.

Handmade Aprons

About a week ago, Chelsea and I got together to make aprons.

I had signed up for a class at the quilt shop that Chelsea works at. We were going to make aprons but it turned out that I was the only person signed up for the class, so Chelsea and I got together at her place to make the apron anyway.

Mmmm....Corn on the cob!

041

Raleigh enjoyed his first piece of corn on the cob the other night. Those little handles are awesome, he was able to hold them so well.
