First taste of solid food

The other day, Josh and I gave Leah her first taste of solid food. I tried to ignore her signs that she was ready for some solid food because I wasn’t ready for her to not need me as much as she does now. I know…that is silly to think that, but I enjoy providing everything she needs right now and she’ll be our last baby, so this will be my last time nursing a baby. At least I still have 6 months until I’m completely done nursing her. Raleigh was 1 year old when I stopped nursing him. We’ll do the same for Leah.

She didn’t like the rice cereal. Well, she didn’t hate it, but she didn’t seem to like it either.

Don’t let this smile fool you, it wasn’t her saying how much she liked the rice cereal, it was her saying how much she liked that we stopped feeding her the rice cereal.

We’re still at my parents’ house and the weather is not really cooperating. It’s windier than Fargo here right now. Not really lake weather.

A Tooth!

Oh my!...isn't it too soon? It just seems way to soon for me little girl to have a tooth.

Josh noticed it yesterday when she was gnawing on his knuckle. And sure enough, her lower right tooth has broken through her gums.

I don't have a picture to show you yet...do you know how hard it is to photograph a baby's tooth?...but I promise I'll try to get one soon.

Also, expect some pictures of the kiddies at the lakes soon. We're at my parents for the next week and we're so excited to visit the lakes. Now...when will this rain go away?

Raleigh in a box

 IMG_9505

Raleigh has figured out how to fit in things. This is one of his toy storage containers from his room.

Below: I bought Raleigh a hat the other day at a garage sale and he thought Leah might look good in it. Can you see her arms in the picture below?

IMG_9490

I also bought a new toy thing for Leah and it seems that Raleigh really likes it too. Here they both are playing with it. Don’t worry…Leah isn’t standing on her own, I’m holding her up with one arm and taking the picture with my other arm.

Woo Hoo!

Ok, so the check hasn’t been processed yet, but today we mailed a payoff amount to our bank for our car loan.  After today, we are officially in Save-for-a-new-house mode.

Yay!

And to celebrate…can you guess what I’m going to do?  Yup, I’m going to post some pics of my kids, which always appeases the masses.

Leah figured out how to stick her foot in her mouth. (She must have learned it from her mother who is also sometimes really good at sticking her foot in her mouth)

Just some cute pics of Leah showing off. Look at how well she’s holding her head up in the second picture.

So, the other day, this is what I came home from work to see. Josh was getting something from the kitchen, and when I walked into the living room, this is what Leah was doing.

Raleigh is learning new tricks every day. Some days, I think that he’ll become a stunt artist or something of that nature. Seriously, this kid of mine has no fear.

“Said Grandma”

This morning Raleigh said, “ ‘I pooped!’, said Grandma”.

Seriously, those words came out of Raleigh’s mouth this morning.

I don’t really thinks he knows what it means to add “Said grandma” after his statement, but he knows that, when we read to him,  a “said” statement usually follows an exclamation of sorts.

Other said statements that I’ve heard him make over the past few weeks.

Hello, said Gordon

I’m hungry, said Percy

I want to go outside, said Dad

But as, you can see, the “I Pooped” statement takes the cake.

Below is a picture of Raleigh leaning in to give Copper a smooch.

And Leah, is showing us just like her mother she really is. Perfectly content at a computer.

Fargo’s Rib Fest

IMG_9213 My parents, brother, SIL and nephews all came to visit this past weekend and we had a blast.

Josh was in Aitkin, MN, recording music with his Dad while we were here in Fargo enjoying delicious ribs and our horribly out-of-the-normal cold weather.

IMG_9216

The boys had fun playing together. Raleigh really attached himself to Tyler, so wherever Tyler was, Raleigh would most likely be there too.

IMG_9203  The boys enjoyed playing with Raleigh’s little video game bicycle.

And in the picture below you could see most of us ready to start the trek to the FargoDome from my house. It was only 10 blocks, but these weren’t normal blocks. We were all quite pooped on the way back and my nephew, Tyler, asked after each intersection, “How many more blocks?”

IMG_9159

The Burley Cart was perfect for Raleigh and Sam and I think that they enjoyed the ride quite a bit. It was quite cold, so they had a blanket to cuddle up under.

IMG_9218

We had to get a picture of all of the boys together too!

IMG_9222

At Rib Fest, there were plenty of ribs and delicious foods, but you won’t see any pictures of those because I was too busy stuffing my face :)

We ate:

  • Ribs
  • Deep fried Oreos
  • Swirly fried potato thingy
  • Roasted corn on the cob
  • Deep fried cheesecake

And there was this awesome playground set up in the Fargodome parking lot. So, the kids got to use up all of their fabulous energy on that thing.

I think we’ll try to make it an annual event. The food was expensive but it was worth it. All I have to say is “Fried cheesecake”. Yum!

Thanks Elmo!

Raleigh went poo on the potty today! And Elmo helped out. It turns out that Dad is really good at speaking like and sounding exactly like Elmo.  And as it turns out, Raleigh goes poo on the potty when Elmo prompts him.

The first time Raleigh pooed on the potty was back in December. Between then and now, he hasn’t done it at all…so we’re pretty excited about today.

We’re not quite ready to try training pants, but we’re all that much closer!

Andy’s visit

A few weeks ago, Josh’s cousin Andy visited us. We got some good pictures of him with the kids. I love this picture of him and Leah.

IMG_8917

Here’s one with Andy, Leah, and his dog Jackson. I hope I spelled Jackson right. Poor little dog, I called him “Jasper” a few times when he was here (I’ve been reading the Twilight series again…can you tell?) and now I’m probably spelling his name wrong.

IMG_8919 Jackson is such an adorable dog and he is so well-behaved! He is only about 18 months old and is a Rat Terrier and Jack Russel Terrier mix.  It made Josh and I want to have a dog again.

IMG_8924

Raleigh, graces us with his presence in the above picture. Notice how he’s smugly standing there.

Below is a picture of the fish that Andy caught when he and Josh fished on the Red River.

Another cute picture of Jackson below. What a precious puppy!

This weekend, we had a few more visitors. I’ll create a separate post on that later.
