Oh, Photoshop, how do I love thee...

Let me count the ways...

Before photoshop: an wedding pic of Josh and I.

After photoshop: my favorite pic of Josh and I on our wedding day.

Did you notice how dreamy we look now? Our skin looks so soft, and everything but us is blurry. I love learning new photoshop tricks.  I'm still no guru. When I can remove us and place us on a remote beach somewhere, then I'll be closer to being a guru.

Ok, now I'm, a semi guru  :)

Happy belated birthday Dad!

What kind of daughter forgets to call her pop on his birthday? Yup, that would be me.

So, here it is. Happy birthday Dad! Sorry it's late.

Mmm, fig and peanut butter

I know, I've been seriously lacking in my blogging responsibilities. The cold hard facts, though, are that I simply haven't been taking any pictures lately.  GASP! I know, worst mom-of-the-year award for me.

So, this morning, when Raleigh was eating some kiwi fruit and a fig/walnut butter and peanut butter whole wheat sandwich, I decided to take some pictures.

Pretty soon, I'll post pictures of our updated kitchen cabinets. We have all of the base cabinet doors on, and we have the hardware installed on half of the top cupboards.

Grilling Out: Tis the Season

We grilled out twice this last weekend. Saturday afternoon and Sunday evening. It was awesome! Salmon skewers that stuck to the grill, lots of baked beans, potato salad, cherry tomato/mozzarella/basil salad, veggie skeweres, and fruit skewers.  Delicious food everywhere.

We also finally put up the badminton net that we got as a wedding gift (2 1/2 years ago). If we had known what were were missing...

I didn't take many pictures of the food or the grill, but I got a few other gems.

Hello all!

We're still chugging away at the kitchen project. I love starting projects but finishing them truly sucks. My self-imposed deadline of Friday night might not actually happen...and...I guess...I'm OK with that.

Posting pics of Raleigh always cheers me up...I hope it brightens your mood too!

We've been outside a lot lately and Raleigh loves it.

We say: "Raleigh, do you want to go outside?"

Raleigh says with excitement and a smile: "side, side, side".

It's funny how he leaves off the "out".

Kitchen Refresh: Phase 1

So, we began the laborious task of refreshing our kitchen. The picture below is how our kitchen looked before we bought our house. It hasn't changed much since.

My House 026

Phase 1 is all about making the existing kitchen cabinets look pretty. This past weekend, we removed all cabinet doors, removed all hardware from doors and cabinets, filled all of the holes in doors and cabinets with wood filler, and we sanded all of the doors.

I also primed the inside bottom of the base cabinets. Tomorrow when I get home from work, we'll be priming the doors.

We've also decided on the color that we'll be painting the walls in the kitchen although that is part of a different phase of the refresh.

Our hope is that we'll have the cabinet and doors painted by Friday, and then we'll spend Friday evening and Saturday morning installing the hardware and hanging the doors. Just in time for grilling out!

We're on schedule right now, so hopefully the weather cooperates with us.

In case you're curious, here are the rest of the phases for the Kitchen refresh.

Phase 1: Cabinets = Pretty

Phase 2: Icky baby blue countertop and chipped porcelain sink = Disappear

Phase 3: Existing floor  - carpet and linoleum + tiles = Pretty

Phase 4: Paint walls pretty color

Phase 5: Stainless steel stove and refrigerator

On a side note: Josh called me a project nazi a few times this weekend and I think he also called me a slave driver once or twice. Let's just say that if it weren't for me, we would never finish any of the projects that we start.

More pictures from my WA trip

The first four pictures are of Whatcom Falls Park in Bellingham, WA, and the waterfront park overlooking Bellingham Bay. The last photo is just a good Daffodil photo that I took.

Raleigh playing with Grandpa Steve

Josh took this video while I was in Washington state. It sure looks like Raleigh and Steve were having plenty of fun.

Raleigh's First Plane Ride

Last Thursday, Raleigh went on his first airplane ride. He was sitting in one of the four seats on this tiny plane.

Another normal day...

Just before I left for Redmond, WA, I took some video of Raleigh just being Raleigh. Here's the compiled and produced final video from those clips on that day.

Enjoy!
