Red River Zoo

Last week, we visited the Red River Zoo over my lunch hour. Raleigh was, again, smitten by the fishes. They have clown fish and blue fish, so Raleigh kept saying “Hi Nemo, Hi Dori”.

Josh carried the little one in the Baby Bjorn carrier. She looks so tiny when he carries her.

The lady that ran the carousel gave Raleigh some popcorn to feed the peacocks. Somehow, I don’t think that buttered popcorn can be all that good for those little creatures. They sure loved it though.

We’ll have more zoo pictures after tomorrow night when we go again.

2009 Fargo Marathon

So, we did it. We being, my hubby, his older brother, and my sister-in-law.  We ran the 4 person Fargo Marathon relay event last Saturday.

I ran the first leg of the journey. Here is a fabulous pic of me after my run.

IMG_8648

Here is a cute pic of Erika and Joel before the marathon started.

IMG_8639

Below is a pic of Joel finishing his run and Josh on his way to intercept the anklet-chip-thingy. Hey, do you know the proper term? I don’t.

So, at this point, Joel has some mongo blisters on both feet. He would proceed to walk on the outside of his feed the rest of the day

Below is a pic of Josh finishing his run. At this point, Josh was wheezing a lot. He came down with a cold the Friday before the marathon.

And this is a picture of Erika, in the green top, crossing the finish line after her leg of the journey.

And here’s the best pic. All four of us, happy to have completed our marathon relay.

Projects almost finished

We’re covering our wood floor with a combination of tile and carpet. We put the tile down ourselves and the carpet will be installed on the 15th. I can’t wait for carpet!

IMG_8447

Above: The tile laid down on thinset, before grout.

Below: The tile after grout.

IMG_8449

The tile looks a lot better now that we’ve cleaned all of the excess grout off an sealed it. I’ll wait to show you the picture of that when I can have carpet right next to it.

I’ve also made some progress with Leah’s quilt. I sent it in to the quilter last week and I got it back this last Monday. Tonight, I sewed the binding onto one side of it, and I started hand sewing the binding to the other side.

IMG_8631 Below, you can see the “bubble meandering” patter of the quilting.

Leah’s baptism

So, we had another reason for traveling down to visit my in-laws this last weekend…We had Leah baptized. And, like her brother Raleigh, she was lucky enough to be baptized by her Grandfather, Pastor Steve.

IMG_8595

And also, like her brother Raleigh, her Great Grandma Sarah and her Great Aunt Soni were her sponsors. IMG_8599  Such a lucky girl with so many people who love her. I wish every child could be loved like my children are.

IMG_8602

Leah, pre-baptism, just getting dressed.

IMG_8594 Leah, pre-baptism and pre-tights. Those were her first pair of tights too. IMG_8590 Not Leah, but a doll, almost as cute as Leah, placed there by her big brother, Raleigh.

IMG_8587 Raleigh really liked the little doll because her hat and dress were made of the same fuzzy soft fabric that his favorite blanket is made of.

Thomas and Friends Live!

Thanks to Aunty Jenna, Raleigh got to see Thomas and Friends Live on Saturday.  We had so much fun!

IMG_8560

There were big engines on the stage. Gordon and Percy are pictured below.

IMG_8563

Of course we had cotton candy. Well, Josh and I had cotton candy after Raleigh tasted it and said, “I dindt like eeet”.  What kind of child of mine doesn’t like cotton candy. I practically grew up on the stuff…ok, I had other stuff too…I just like to remember only the cotton candy.

IMG_8575

And we snapped a picture of the three of us. Raleigh is not gagging himself…although after he tasted his cotton candy, he wanted to…

IMG_8579

Leah got to stay home with Grandpa Steve and Grandma Deb, and I’m told she had a blast. She pooped, she peed, she drank, she spit up, she slept, and she cooed and smiled.

Photos to tide you over

I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted, but we’ve had a busy weekend, which I’ll tell you about in a later post.

Until then…

Guess who kind of fits into the Rainforest Jumper?

IMG_8536

And Raleigh is very eager to show his little sis how the thing works.

Playing in the crib

I took some pics of Leah in her crib the other day. She loves looking at her reflection and she’s starting to reach out for things deliberately now.

IMG_8493 Raleigh insisted on teaching her how to turn on her mobile. He does have plenty of practice as this was once his crib and mobile.

Hamming it up

Leah is starting to get used to having the camera in her face. The picture below was taken today before we went to the park.

IMG_8518 This one was taken yesterday. Just a happy girl!

Matching haircuts

I gave my favorite men haircuts on Thursday. I’m really happy with the results too. Josh says that he may have to call on my services from now on. I guess it is a compliment that he prefers the way I cut his hair to the way that he takes the buzzer to his head and buzzes his hair all one length. :)

IMG_8458

I’m hiding Raleigh’s chin in this picture because he has an icky scab on it that totally detracts from his totally awesome haircut.

Spring Growth

The irises that my mother and I planted last year are beginning to come up. At least, I think they are irises. My mother said she removed a ton of tubers from her yard because they were so invasive and I said, “I’ll take them!”.

I already have really invasive Lilly of the Valley growing in my yard…might as well provide them with some competition.
