Construction Means Photo Op

The entire city of Fargo seems to be under construction lately. You wouldn’t believe the incredible route that I need to take just to get to work and back!

A few streets in our neighborhood have been completely tore up for the last month and a half, and pretty soon, our street right off of our driveway will be redone as well. They will also be expanding our driveway, which means we’ll be able to easily pull both cars into the driveway without fancy maneuvering.

Anyway, we’ve had this big honking digger parked on our curb for a week and I thought it might be fun to take Raleigh’s picture with it.

After Raleigh’s photo op, he promptly decided to head but the marker that indicates where our new driveway will end.

And then, I thought it would be fun to get him to hug a tree so that I can take a picture. Well, I made such a big fuss out of it that, now, each time we go outside, he wants to hug all of the trees on our boulevard.

Mmmm…Bananas!

I thought, maybe, that if I smashed up some banana and put it on Leah’s tray, she might grab it and put it into her mouth like everything else she grabs. But I was wrong, she only wanted to play with it.

So, we resorted to using the spoon.

IMG_0791

And then I let her play with the spoon.

Siblings? I think sooooo!

Josh took this picture today. Cute kiddies with matching orange diapers.

IMG_0826

And what else is exciting about these pictures?  Could it possibly be that my littler girl is pulling herself up onto furniture already?

IMG_0800

She’s been doing it for two weeks now and it still surprises me. I think Raleigh wasn’t even crawling at her age. We’re going to have to watch for her…she’s already a little boundary pusher.

Raleigh’s Homemade Bed

IMG_0758

Yup, that beautiful piece of carpentry is handmade by non other than Josh and me. Ok, Raleigh helped a little bit…And we are not entirely finished.  It still needs its bright red coat of spray paint.

The four corner posts were wood pieces that we got from my FIL Steve when he had to clean out his garage to move to a different city. (I just knew they would come in handy).

The side boards were part of an old bunk bed that my brothers used to sleep on that we acquired from my parents. We couldn’t figure out how to get the bunk bed to go together again so I decided to use some of the wood and some of the hardware pieces to make this bed.

We’re quite proud of ourselves but then we are humbled by the fact that the bed frame is a bit longer than the mattress still (nothing a Skilsaw won’t fix) and the foot of the bed is slightly narrower than the head of the bed…by a good 2 inches.

Oh well. It’s our $20 bed. Yes, that is actually all the money we actually put into it.

I’ll post a better picture of it when it is bright red. :)

Also, a very Happy Birthday to SweetMarySunshine today!

My Girl is Sitting Up

IMG_0752

She dabbled in it while we were on vacation, but now she is a pro at sitting up. Next, I’ll show you her pulling herself up to standing position against the couch. She’s pretty good at that now too.

Go Fly a Kite

A few weeks ago, Raleigh and Josh flew a kite. Happiness ensued.

And resting took place after all that running around.

Thompson Family Vacation 2009

IMG_0494

Ahhh, the bliss that was Turtle Lake, MN. Such a beautiful lake, such a beautiful week…the best week out of the summer, I hear.

Here is a summary, in pictures, of our vacation.

Loons frequented the lake, near enough so that we could see them.

IMG_0686

Leah and Chelsea started endorsing Diet Pepsi.

IMG_0487

Delicious and yummy, made-by-Deb, carrot cake was eaten by all.

IMG_0490

Leah practiced her Pike position for when she becomes and Olympic Diver some day.

IMG_0524

Raleigh and Leah smiled at the same time in a picture. Truly a once in a lifetime moment.

IMG_0607

Raleigh, Josh, and I were happy to pose for a pic.

IMG_0632

So was Jenna.

IMG_0631

Grandpa Steve showed Leah how to play on the floor while posing for a picture.

 IMG_0558

Raleigh tasted a rock…

IMG_0582

And didn’t like it.

IMG_0583

Joel held Leah and smiled.

IMG_0640 Joel and Jamie found a location where they could hijack some Wi-Fi.

IMG_0642

There was a meteor shower that I tried to catch on camera but didn’t. Now you only get to see a picture of the stars.

IMG_0672

Raleigh took Grandpa Steve’s hat.

IMG_0700

Joel and Raleigh sat on the end of the dock without life jackets on.

IMG_0694

Leah  was bathed like a vegetable in the sink.

IMG_0696

Raleigh and Leah played with Grandma Deb.

 IMG_0729

Leah played with a school bus.

IMG_0740

There was a lightning storm that I did catch on camera.

IMG_0715

Jenna and Raleigh built a fort under the table.

IMG_0701

Raleigh put goldfish next to the fish that we drew for him.

IMG_0743

I think that pretty much sums it up. :)

Back from Vacation

Wow! What a fun week!

IMG_0704

I promise I’ll tell you about it after I’ve done some laundry, caught some ZZZZs and showered :)

A Budding Photographer

Raleigh has taken a bit of an interest in taking pictures lately. Not sure if this has anything to do with the fact that he’s had a camera in his face since the second he was born or anything.

IMG_0432 IMG_0433 IMG_0434 IMG_0435

Also, we’re going on vacation for a week, so we won’t be posting until after Aug. 16th.  We’ll be back with pictures of our vacation though :) So that’s something to look forward to.
