Our house is officially for sale…OMG! what now?

So we put the “For Sale by Owner” sign on our front lawn today. I also created a craigslist entry and an ad in the online section of our local newspaper.

All link to our website:

I don’t have all of the pictures on the site yet, but I will by end of day Saturday.

Kind of exciting to be at this stage right now. I hope we sell it soon!

And just because I don’t want to leave you without some pictures…

Reading and Playing

We’re lucky that both Raleigh and Leah seem interested in books. I hope it sticks with them. Josh is reading a book that Joel and Erika gave Raleigh as a present last winter. And yes, Raleigh is wearing Christmas pajamas in October. But in my defense, the radio station was playing the Little Drummer Boy the other day.

Leah is more into putting things in her mouth than Raleigh was. She puts everything in her mouth, especially paper. It is like she seeks it out! If there is paper on the ground, a book or anything that she can soak in saliva and then chew, she will find it.

Raleigh only poses for pictures if I con him into showing the camera something.

IMG_1771

Without something in his hands to “show the camera”, this is how my pictures of him turn out lately.

IMG_1764

We’ve had to be extra watchful of Raleigh lately, because he likes to drag Leah to any spot that he thinks she should be. Ughh.

We often hear him in his bedroom saying, “Come in here Leah, come in here!”

Update on the happenings here

My mother visited us last weekend.

IMG_1673

She was very helpful with wrangling the kiddies while Josh and installed our new windows.

IMG_1705

Leah has started to eat finger food.

IMG_1633

Raleigh can get himself a glass of water from the sink and he is so proud of it.

IMG_1600

I was able to put some of Leah’s hair up in sudo-ponytail thingy.

IMG_1743

This has been happening for a while now, but Leah can stand for a few moments on her own.

IMG_1623

Raleigh is showing more interest in all things Leah related.

IMG_1721

Leah had her 9 month check-up on Monday. She is 27 1/4 inches long (38%), 17 lbs 13 oz (31%), and her head circumference is 43.3 cm (29 %). Except for a slight heart murmur, which the doctor said was normal in little babies, she has a clean bill of health.

What a pane in the glass!

Our new windows arrived today. We only purchased two of them to see how easy it would be to install them ourselves. I have to say, it was pretty darn easy. It probably took us 45 minutes for each window to tear out the old and replace it with the new window.

Old icky window, bad picture.

Old window with interior stops removed and metal track almost pulled off. IMG_1656

A close-up of the metal tracks bent up at the bottom and top of the window.

The hole in the wall sans window. You can also see the construction on the road in front of my house. If you look close enough, you can see the snowflakes in the air.

IMG_1664

Due to the cold, we actually had to dress Raleigh. Because the Twins were playing, we decided to put on his Twins jacket.

Ta Da!!!!  The first new window without the interior stops put back on.

IMG_1670

Both new windows with interior stops put back on. Now, we just need to touch up the paint on the trim.

Raleigh’s airplane ride

OK, not a real airplane. He was pretending to be an airplane while I elevated him in the air with my legs. It turns out this is the only way that I can get a great picture of Raleigh truly smiling.

IMG_1558 IMG_1562

Raleigh, lately, thinks he can move Leah wherever he wants her. I caught him in the act the other day.

IMG_1577

We picked up this handy little contraption for Raleigh the other day. When I was a kid, these were great. It was like watching a slideshow in your hands. Of course, Raleigh’s talks to him and tells him all about the pictures he sees.

IMG_1512

We’re also attempting to potty train Raleigh again. We purchased the Elmo goes potty book to help us out. Raleigh and Leah both like it.

IMG_1586 This toy was a baby shower gift from my friend Rebecca when I was pregnant with Raleigh. He enjoyed it very much and now Leah is enjoying it as well.

IMG_1578

And this was an attempt to get a Christmas picture. A bit early, I know. It didn’t work out anyway.

Under Construction

Our driveway and road attached to our driveway is being replaced. We’ll have a new driveway and road in 35 days. Meanwhile, we’re parking a half a block away.

IMG_1589

We had plumbing issues last weekend which resulted in this great hole in our bedroom wall.

How would you answer?

Tonight, Raleigh, Josh, Leah and I were driving westerly to go buy some sleepers for Leah (It’s getting cold out now) and Josh commented, “Wow, the sun is bright right now.”

Obviously, it was because it was setting right in front of us. But Raleigh chimed into the conversation and asked, “Does the sun live in the dark?”

I was at a loss for words. Does the source of our light live in the dark and provide the light or does the sun live in the sunshine that itself gives off?

What a pretty shirt

010

About two weeks ago, after I just removed this adorable shirt, which really  is a dress, from Leah, Raleigh said, “I want to wear it. Can I wear the pink shirt?”

I have to admit, that the traditionalist in me wanted to say no. However, after I convinced myself that pink is just another color and should in no way be really associated with one specific gender. I let him wear it.  And I was so glad that I did, because, look at how happy he was to wear that shirt.

As I type this, Raleigh is looking over my shoulder at the computer screen and saying, “I want pink for me to wear. Can I have pink for me to wear.”

Just adorable.

House for sale…well, almost

IMG_1503

We’re not quite ready to put it on the market, but we wouldn’t turn down a good offer right now.
