TV will rot your brain
After not having cable for over 6 months, I am completely appalled at how the majority of television programming has no substance, yet it is still easy to sit down, with remote in hand, and be completely sucked in. Here are somethings that I've observed
- Some commercials are funny and entertaining in an artistic way, some are plain awful.
- Some programs are brand new, but most are re-runs.
- Some of the news that is aired is BREAKING NEWS!!! but most of it is repeated over and over and over until you become so desensitised that you just don't care anymore.
- None of the reality shows are really reality.
- There are too many football games going on at the same time and not enough gymnastics, diving, figure skating, or women's softball on TV.
- A lot of these so-called-cartoons are no longer really aimed at children. Some of the comments and witty remarks are too adult-ish for me to ignore.
- In order to be a TV personality, you have to be funny, ditsy, annoying, have no incredible flaws in your appearance, or you just need to have your own catch phrase.

A productive weekend
What a wonderful, and fast, weekend I just had. On Friday night, Josh and I put a crib together, and later I accomplished a whole lot on my T-Shirt quilt, with the help of my dear friend Chelsea of course. Josh and I woke up early enough on Saturday to rearrange the whole house. I'm serious. We pretty much rearranged 3 of the rooms in our house.
You see, everything became offset a bit when we put the crib in our bedroom. Well anyway, we rearranged and cleaned the house in time for our Sunday lunch, which went very well.
I found lasagna recipe online that seemed promising, and, in fact, turned out delicious. Now I have a lasagna recipe that I can use for years to come! Yay!
After we all ate lunch, the boys watched their football, and us women played Sequence. After everyone left, Josh and I took a Sunday afternoon nap that seemed to make us more tired. All in all...it was a great weekend.
Listed below is the recipe that I found online:
INGREDIENTS:
· 1 pound bulk Italian sausage (remove casings) ( I hated this part but the sausage tasted great in the recipe)
· 1 clove garlic, minced
· 1 can (14.5 ounces) tomatoes (I used a larger can of crushed tomatoes)
· 2 teaspoons dried basil
· 1 teaspoon dried oregano
· 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
· 2 cans tomato paste (6 ounces each)
· 10 ounces lasagne noodles (10 to 12 lasagna noodles)
· 3 cups ricotta cheese
· 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
· 2 tablespoons dried parsley flakes
· 2 eggs
· 1 teaspoons salt
· 1/2 teaspoon pepper
· 16 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded or thinly sliced
PREPARATION:
Brown sausage slowly; drain off excess fat. Add garlic, tomatoes, basil, oregano, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, and tomato paste. Simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes, adding a little water if too thick. Cook lasagna noodles in boiling salted water according to package directions. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, parsley, eggs, 1 teaspoon salt, and pepper.
Place a layer of noodles in bottom of a 13x9x2-inch baking dish or lasagna pan. Cover with a layer of mozzarella cheese then spoon 1/2 of ricotta mixture over mozzarella. Spoon 1/2 meat sauce over the cheese. Repeat layers. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes in a 375° oven.
Allow lasagna recipe to set a few minutes before serving.

Looking forward to the weekend
I apologize for the lack of interesting topics to blog about, but really, my life hasn't been that interesting in the past week or so.
Here's what's coming up for me though:
Tomorrow:
- It's Friday and that means the last work day of the week. Yay!
- And my sister-in-law will find out the gender of her baby tomorrow.
- I'm also getting together with a friend tomorrow night to work on my t-shirt quilt that I'm making.
Saturday:
- My mom and dad are coming to visit. Josh and I are both very excited!
Sunday:
- Lasagna at my house! Family comes over for our typical Sunday lunch after church to watch the Vikings game. This week it's my turn to cook.
And just because I know how much fun it is to see a picture along with a blog....Here you go!
This is my attempt at mixing my face with Josh's face to find out what our kid might look like. I think it is rather hilarious! I love playing around with photoshop!

28 weeks along and I have a weird cat
Here's a pic of my belly at 28 weeks.

And here's a pic of my crazy cat, Wilbur, hanging out on the sidewalk. As I was driving home from work today, I noticed that he was just laying on the very corner of the sidewalk. I ran inside quick to get my camera so I could share this moment with you all.

Fall is Here!
You'll never guess what happened to me this morning!....I woke up around 7:30 am because Winnie need to go outside, and as I stepped outside to enjoy the crisp cool temperatures of the morning, I SAW MY BREATH!!!!
You know what that means, don't you?
FALL IS HERE, FALL IS HERE, YAY YAY YAY, FALL IS HERE!!!
My new blog background was inspired by that moment this morning. I've also decided to share some of my favorite fall pics from a trip Josh and I took to Maplewood State Park in 2003. Enjoy!

Sicki Sickerton Today
Throughout my pregnancy, I've had the most powerful immune system. Hardly ever getting sick.
Today, my streak has ended. After a terribly horrific night of non-sleep, I woke up with a head cold this morning. So I called in sick to work, so I could catch up on some much needed sleep and do some research about what kind of meds I can take for clogged sinuses.
I'll have more interesting posts later, I promise.

All Sunshine and Daisies
Another checkup at the doctor and another gold star for me! My doctor visit lasted not even 15 minutes today...Which is a good thing. But my doctor basically enters the room, asks me how things are, looks at my file, tells me how far along I am (27 weeks), and then I lie down and he listens to the heart beat (150 bpm today) and then he asks me if I have any questions (which I never do, because I've already over-researched the pregnancy topic thanks to the internet).
So, yah, everything is all sunshine and daisies from my viewpoint. Not much to complain about, although I did have some nasty posterior pelvic pain (Josh and I researched it on the net) this weekend. The pain is gone now. Yay!
Speaking of the weekend, Josh and I were crazy productive but our house is a mess. We have the cable guy coming tomorrow, so we'll have it clean by then.
Here's a fun list...Because we know how much I love lists...Of what Josh and I accomplished this weekend:

Here's a fun list...Because we know how much I love lists...Of what Josh and I accomplished this weekend:
- Put up peg board in one of our basement storage rooms to make it into a cool tool room
- Rearranged the living room
- Moved the chaise lounge into our bedroom (I'm thinking it will be the perfect place to breastfeed in the middle of the night)
- Gave Winnie a shower with the garden hose
- Took Winnie to the playground twice so she could fetch the tennis ball
- Went to lunch with Josh's brothers and their others
- Hung out at Barnes & Noble for hours without buying anything
- Did about 4 or 5 loads of laundry
Overall, I had a wonderful weekend.

Monkeying around
Josh and I spent our Saturday creating a monkey blanket for our yet-to-be born baby boy. This first picture is of the head before Josh stuffed it, and before I emroidered the face.

Hello Monkey! Notice that the main fabric for the blanket has bananas printed on it.

Here's a picture of my mom's old sewing machine that still works wonderfully! I can't believe I remembered how to thread the darn thing though.

We used lots of pins for this project.
