A Night at the Zoo

Last night, the company that I work for sponsored a night out at the zoo for employees and their families.

Josh, Raleigh and I attended...of course.

I was comissioned to take pictures for the event, which was loads of fun. Due to the fact that I locked my camera in my cabinet at work and then I lost the key to my cabinet, I used the company's camera. Oh, boy was it fun to use that camera. It had a much more expensive lens than my camera and it had a very noisy shutter which I absolutely enjoyed.

I might have to begin saving for a new lense for my camera :)

Here are some of the pictures from the zoo.

It starts with a thumb slammed in the trunk...

That's how my weekend started. As I was cleaning out our car trunk to begin packing for our trip to Worthington, MN, I shut my right thumb in the car trunk so much that I had to open the trunk with the key to get it out. I didn't break anything but only suffered a somewhat deep cut to the left of my thumb knuckle. I slapped on a bandaid and I was good to go :)

Luckily, the thumb injury didn't affect my photography this weekend. Here are a couple of my favorite shots from this weekend. As you can see, it was raining during the ceremony. If I were truly a professional, I would have had a raincoat for my camera.

I prefer candid photographs more than posed. Only candid photographs can truly show happiness.

And of course, here's a picture of Raleigh looking up at me from his Pack N' Play in our hotel room.

As I wade through more wedding photos, I'll share some more.

From Worthington, MN

Hi all!

Josh, Raleigh and I are down in Worthington, MN, this weekend. We're here to celebrate the marriage of Aaron and Tanya. I'm also going to be their photographer for their wedding.

Here are some pics from the rehearsal cookout.

The yummy food.

The bride and groom. I'm not sure they knew that I took this picture :)

Mobile, 6 month-old Raleigh

Raleigh had his 6 month doctor visit today. He weighs 16.8 lbs, and is 26 inches long now. We've been very lucky that Raleigh has been as healthy as he has been. We haven't had a single doctor's visit apart from his scheduled well-baby visits at 2 weeks, 2 months, 4 months, and now 6 months. Josh held him while the nurse gave him his shots and he didn't cry near as much as he cried for past shots when I held him.

The doctor was very happy, as were all the nurses. Raleigh seems to get a ton of smiles from everyone he meets...probably because he's very generous with his own smiles.

Here's a cute pic of him grabbing his feet while I was changing his diaper.

And we can no longer use his bouncy chair because he thinks it's a jungle gym.

Fabulously fun weekend

What a great long weekend. Josh, Raleigh, Winnie, and I hung out quite a bit this weekend and it was fun.

On Saturday, Josh helped his brother Jamie move while Raleigh and I hung out together during the day. Later that night, Josh and I joined my sister-in-law, Erika, to watch Pirates of the Carribean 3: At World's End. Raleigh was left in good hands with a friend from work and her husband.

I think we'll need to start going to earlier movies from now on though. I didn't realize how late that it would get for Raleigh to be kept out.

Yesterday, I mulched a large bricked-off area of our back yard...something I should have done two years ago :). And I got closer to finishing Raleigh's room.

In the past week, Raleigh's graduated to eating solid foods twice a day. Breastmilk is still his main food source though. Feeding a baby solid foods is a good way to really understand the phrase "What goes in must come out." I could definitely tell that Raleigh has been eating bananas. And today, before our walk, Josh asked me if was using vinegar for something. When I responded no, Josh just had to find out where that smell was coming from.

Turns out it was Raleigh...and the banana, rice cereal, and apple combination we fed him for lunch comes out smelling like vinegar. I find that funny because Josh hates, and I mean HATES, the smell of vinegar. I should have had the camera out to take a picture of Josh with his shirt over his nose while he changed Raleigh's diaper.

Other highlights from this weekend, include:

Molasses cookies.

Fun with Raleigh.

Thief helps us to be greener

Last weekend, or late last week, our lawn mower was stolen from our driveway. Well, I bet the theif got a big shock when he/she used it for the first time...no, literally, I really do think that he/she got a shock. You see...the only way that you can turn off the lawn mower that was stolen is by removing the spark plug wire from the spark plug...and it shocks you every single time.
So, in the picture below, I am pushing the new reel mower that I bought over my lunch hour today. If you're older, you may have even used a mower like this one before.

The best quality about the mower is that there is no gasoline or electricity involved...Josh's quote "Human use is what makes this baby go"...it is the greener lawn mower. Supposedly it is also better for the grass because it uses a scissor cut instead of a rip cut like most rotary blades.

Lately, I've taken to liking mushrooms. No, not the "I see purple dwarves and rainbow snowflakes" kind, but the bought in the grocery store kind. The picture below is of the dish that I made for dinner tonight. Red onions, fresh garlic, mushrooms, red bell peppers, stir-fried in sesame oil with a dash of salt, a few dashes of red pepper flakes and a smidgen of soy sauce. It is now my favorite dish to make.

I was also lucky enough to catch Josh and Raleigh in a cute father-son moment tonight.

A Comparison

January 28th, 2007

May 20th, 2007

And yes, this is my third post today. I'm at home sick, and when Raleigh is sleeping, I'm bored. If I didn't have to be near a restroom so often, I'd be at work.

I'm not a chef....

...but I have fun pretending. Maybe this is what made my tummy sick yesterday and today...hmmm.

Ready to Crawl

Raleigh seems to be getting ready to crawl. He's pushing himself up on his arms more, and every once and a while his legs bend in as if to crawl. Yikes, we're going to have to baby proof the house soon! If you've seen our house, you know how tough this will be for us. :)
